LAURA AND MARTIN’S SPRING WEDDING AT THE HILTON CARLTON IN EDINBURGH.
Laura and Martin's wedding at the Hilton Carlton hotel in Edinburgh on 15 April was an absolute blast! From the sparkly bride's dress to the knee brace-wearing groom, it was an eventful day filled with love, laughter, and plenty of special moments.
As a photographer, I was thrilled to be a part of this beautiful couple's day. I had already worked with them and some of their family before, so it was wonderful to see some familiar faces in the crowd. It’s always amazing to see kids I’ve photographed bloom into young adults.
One of the first things that caught My eye was Laura's stunning dress. It was covered in sequins and sparkles, and she looked absolutely breathtaking in it. I’ve not seen another dress like it. She had paired it with a beautiful updo and some delicate jewelry, which really made the dress stand out.
Martin, unfortunately, had suffered a knee injury 3 weeks before the wedding and had to wear a knee brace. But he didn't let that dampen his spirits, and he was still upbeat and had an amazing day. Because of the injury, we had to take all of the photos indoors at the hotel (except one where i managed to get the guys outside for one shot before the ceremony). But the Hilton Carlton is such a beautiful venue that it didn't matter one bit. I found plenty of lovely spots to take pictures, and the indoor lighting actually made for some really striking shots.
The ceremony room was stunning too and has gorgeous views of the city so it was the perfect backdrop for exchanging vows. I always really enjoy this part of the day because i get to know the couple i’m working with even more through hearing their story in their own words.
During the speeches, there were plenty of hilarious moments that had everyone in stitches.
I always really enjoy the evening too as everyone has let their hair down (plenty of wine during dinner) and i get great shots of the party.
Overall, Laura and Martin's wedding was a wonderful event that i was thrilled to be a part of. I’m so glad i could help them capture these special memories, even if i had to do it all indoors. It just goes to show that sometimes, the most memorable moments happen when things don't go exactly as planned. If you're planning a wedding yourself, don't worry too much about the weather or any unexpected hiccups. Just remember that what really matters is the love and connection you share with your partner and your loved ones.
