A ROYAL MILE WEDDING : ELIESE & IAIN IN EDINBURGH

Royal Mile Wedding, Edinburgh

It’s such an honour when someone you’ve worked with in the wedding industry asks you to photograph their own wedding. It shows the great working relationship we develop but also on a personal level how we connect with people.

When Eliese got in touch about her wedding I was absolutely delighted that I was available on her date. We’ve loved Plane Castle, which Eliese runs, over the years and we fall in love with her dog Maia every time we see her. The arrangement was for me to arrive at Edinburgh City Chambers a little before the ceremony to catch some images of Iain and his family and then I’d wait for Eleise walking down the Royal Mile. When I saw her walking towards me I was blown away with how amazing she looked. I absolutely love her styling! I knew we were going to get some amazing images throughout the day. We had chatted about her vision for the images and we both had the same ideas for what would work and the vibe we were going for.

The ceremony was so lovely. I enjoy all the ceremonies we see but as I said to Eliese afterwards, there’s the special few which still bring a lump to my throat. I especially loved that they swapped their last Rolo after exchanging rings!

After the ceremony and family photos were done we wandered along the Royal Mile stopping at the spots we’d picked out beforehand but also some ad hoc images along the way. This is the best way to work because you just don’t know what you’ll see on the day, and where you’ll get inspiration. Eleise got so many compliments (and Iain too) but she’s so striking and everyone wanted to tell her how amazing she looked.

I love the images i’ve come away with and I’m excited to edit the full gallery - will update more here when they’re ready!!
